답답하다.  주위 사람들이 바뀌지 않는 것 같으면, 더 나아지는 것 같지 않으면 그러나 그 이유는 다름 아닌 나라는 것.

율곡의 자경문(自警文) 中

一家之人不化 只是誠意未盡
일가지인불화 지시성의미진

즉 한 집안 사람들이 변화하지 아니함은 단지 나의 성의가 미진하기 때문이다.

다른 이유 때문이 아니다. 나 때문이다.

It’s stifling sometimes to see how people are so resistant to change towards better, but the reason for that is none other than myself.

Here’s a line from Yi I‘s Self-Reflection (自警文)

一家之人不化 只是誠意未盡

The reason that my family member does not change for better is only because there is a lack in my sincerity of effort.

There is no other reason for it. It’s because of me.
